Howdy Ya’ll!

Welcome to another Life with Lisa! I feel like I haven’t written one in a while (last month was Burn Bright Book club’s Saturday post, and the week before, my Internet just didn’t want to cooperate, so instead one of my reviews was posted). So I’m pretty excited to finally get back into my groove.

This week’s post isn’t going to be anything about books (awwwh!) and it isn’t anything heart breaking either (yaaay!), but instead it’s going to be a bit more fun! Do you remember being younger, and it didn’t matter what the kid next to you looked like, dressed like, or sometimes even smelled like? Where the only thing you were worried about was your favourite colors, games, and sharing snacks during break time?

What would you answer if someone asked you what you’re favourite color was? Red? Blue? Orange?

Did you know, each colour represents a type of person? I didn’t!

If you don’t know me, I spend a lot of time reading and blogging (yes, very true), but besides that I also enjoy playing games, and reading interesting articles online. Yesterday I found one, that basically told you what your favorite color said about you and here it is:

White: Symbolic of purity, innocence and naiveness, white has strong connotations of youth and purity. If you are an older person, your preference for white could indicate a desire for perfection and impossible ideals, maybe an attempt to recapture lost youth and freshness. It may also symbolize a desire for simplicity or the simple life.

Red: The color of strength, health, and vitality, Red is often the color chosen by someone outgoing, aggressive, vigorous and impulsive—or someone who would like to be! It goes with an ambitious nature but those who choose it can be abrupt at times, determined to get all they can out of life, quick to judge people and take sides. Red people are usually optimistic and can’t stand monotony; they are rather restless and not at all introspective, so they may be unaware of their own shortcomings. They find it hard to be objective and may blame others for any mishaps. Quiet people with a preference for red may feel the need for the warmth, strength and life-giving qualities of the color, or they blanket their true feelings under a sober exterior. Red is usually chosen by people with open and uncomplicated natures, with a zest for life.

Maroon: Harsh experience has probably matured the Maroon person into someone likable and generous. It is often a favorite color of someone who has been battered by life but has come through. It indicates a well-disciplined Red personality—one who has had difficult experiences and has not come through unmarked but who has grown and matured in the process.

Pink: This color embodies the gentler qualities of Red, symbolizing love and affection without passion. Women who prefer Pink tend to be maternal. Pink desires protection, special treatment and a sheltered life. Pink people require affection and like to feel loved and secure, perhaps wanting to appear delicate and fragile. Pink people tend to be charming and gentle, if a trifle indefinite.

Orange: This color of luxury and pleasure appeals to the flamboyant and fun-loving person who likes a lively social round. Orange people may be inclined to dramatize a bit, and people notice them, but they are generally good-natured and popular. They can be a little fickle and vacillating, but on the whole they try hard to be agreeable. Orange is the color of youth, strength, fearlessness, curiosity and restlessness.

Yellow: The color of happiness, wisdom and imagination, Yellow is chosen by the mentally adventurous, searching for novelty and self-fulfillment. Yellow usually goes with a sunny and shrewd personality, with a good business head and a strong sense of humor. It is the color of intellectuality and all things to do with the mind. Yellow folks are usually clear and precise thinkers who have a good opinion of their own mental capacities and who have lofty ideals. They may at times tend to shun responsibility, preferring freedom of thought and action.

Green: The color of harmony and balance, Green symbolizes hope, renewal and peace, and is usually liked by the gentle and sincere. Greens are generally frank, community-minded people, fairly sociable but preferring peace at any price. Green people can be too self-effacing, modest and patient, so they may get exploited by others. They are usually refined, civilized and reputable.

Blue: Soft, soothing, compassionate and caring, Blue is the color of deliberation and introspection, conservatism and duty. Patient, persevering, conscientious, sensitive and self-controlled, Blues like to be admired for their steady character and wisdom. They are faithful, but are often worriers with somewhat inflexible beliefs and can be too cautious, and suspicious of flamboyant behavior.

Blue-Green: Exacting, discriminating, poised and attractive, the Blue-Green person tends to be sensitive, intellectual and refined, persevering and stable if rather detached. Blue-Greens have excellent taste, and are usually courteous and charming, capable but often refusing help or guidance.

Turquoise: Complex, imaginative and original, Turquoise people drive themselves hard and may be in a state of turmoil under their outwardly cool exterior.

Lavender: This is often chosen by a person who lives “on a higher plane,” who never notices anything sordid and who is always impeccably and beautifully dressed. Lavender people may be on a continual quest for culture and the refined things of life, high and noble causes but without the necessity of getting their hands dirty. A Lavender person is usually creative, charming, witty and civilized.

Purple: Purples are highly individual, fastidious, witty and sensitive, with a strong desire to be unique and different. Temperamental, expansive and artistic, a Purple person may become aloof and sarcastic when misunderstood. If you chose Purple, you tend to be unconventional, tolerant and dignified, likely to achieve positions of authority.

Brown: A Brown person has stamina and patience, tending to be very solid and substantial, conscientious, dependable, steady and conservative. Browns are not impulsive, and may be inarticulate and tactless but they love responsibility and are reliable and kindly. If you chose Brown, watch out for a tendency to be obstinate and inflexible.

Gray: The color of caution and compromise, diligent Grays search for composure and peace and often work hard without reward. Older Grays like life to run on an even keel with few ups and downs. Young Grays may be withdrawing from life and suppressing their personalities. Grays often have good business ability and tend to work too much.

Black: Dignified and impressive without being showy, Black people want to give the appearance of mystery, but their preference may also indicate a suppression of desires and worldly aims, suggesting hidden depths and inner longings.”

My favorite color is Blue, what’s yours?:)

Is it summer yet?! Where is the sun? Where is the warmth?! I want to be able to finally leave my house without wearing three jackets and still be freezing cold!

I’m not sure where you might live, but here, where I am, it’s raining every day. If I’m really unlucky, we’ll even have high wind speeds to top it off.

Even though, I could go for hours complaining about how crappy the weather is here in the Northwest, I’m actually here to show you a few cute nail polishes that would be perfect for spring! Besides reading, blogging and school, I really enjoy doing my own nails, make up, and dressing up. (I’m not only addicted to buying books, but also clothes….oh and shoes!)

There are tons of different nail polish brands that vary in price ranges. I usually prefer, not spending more than five dollars on a bottle of nail polish (who would want to buy one bottle, which costs twenty-five dollars, where I could buy five instead?). So the nail polishes I’ll be showing to you will either be five dollars (sorry I’m not sure of prices in other countries, but you can easily just look them up online), or less!

1. Tickled Pink (Wet n’ Wild, Wild Shine)

Light pinks are really in this spring! I really like this brand, this line is actually only 99 cents! But they do have different lines, that vary from 99 cents to I think around 7 dollars. I do actually own this one, but I haven’t tried it yet!

2. Sunny Side Up (also Wet n’ Wild, Wild Shine)

Their dollar line has a ton of great colors, especially for spring! They’re bright and colorful which is perfect! I do also own this one, it’s actually my second bottle, I love it!

3. Let’s Meet (Sinful Colors)

This one cost 1.99, which isn’t very much, but I love the quality and they have a HUGE selection of different colors! I’m wearing this one right now, it’s not just a yellow, it actually has microscopic yellow, orange and green shimmers. This isn’t exactly what’s in for spring, but I really like it, and it goes along with a lot of my spring clothes.

4. Innocent (again by Sinful Colors)

This is a bright and creme color green. I haven’t worn it yet, but I plan to as soon as this yellow one chips. Spring is all about bright colors and looking at Innocent, it just reminds me so much of Easter!

5. Bare (Also by Sinful Colors)

I have this one on my toes right now, and I’m loving it! I haven’t had it on my fingers, but I plan to soon. Besides bright colors, nude and cream colors are in. Look in any fashion magazine; clean cut nails are one of the newest things!

So I hoped this helped you (if it was with deciding on what nail polish colors to get, or just get you in the end of winter, and beginning of spring mood). I love nail polishes, and I’ll be sure to do more beauty posts in the future, thanks! 🙂

So it’s February and we all know what that means! Love is in the air (if you’re not feelin’ the love, you better hold your breath!) !!

Just because you’re not married, or aren’t seeing anyone, doesn’t mean you should totally shut out Valentine’s Day! You have parents, siblings, and friends you could all get small gifts for! And I have a few great ideas 🙂

1. Get an old jar, decorate it, and fill it with Kisses!

2. Be a little creative; instead of just going out and buying a card, make one!

3. Get all the delicious treats you know your Valentine loves and make them a gift basket!

4. Make them a few decorative cupcakes. They don’t have to be perfect!

5. And lastly, wake up early and make your Valentine breakfast!

I hope this will help you guys! If you have any ideas you would like to add, then comment below, I would love to hear what creative ideas you have! 🙂

Who knew that something so pretty, fluffy looking, and fun to play in would become such a big problem? Who knew I would be out a whole week from school, because of this fluffy mess (I needed a break anyways, but still!)? Who knew that after about the third day of school closure, things were getting old, dangerous, and cold?

Snow! How could snow cause so many problems?!

So if you didn’t know, I live here in the states, in the Northwest to be exact! We’re used to the cold, and the rain, but not twelve or more inches of snow! When it hit us, it was all fun and games at first, school was out, I had more time to read, do homework and just hang out. But after about the second or third day, I was tired of being cold, stuck inside, and not being able to see ALL of my friends from school.

That fourth night, I remember going to bed, and watching the news. Listening to the reporter telling us that snow was sure to melt by the next morning, and that schools would open up again if not in the morning, it would be at least a late start. Well, that report was VERY WRONG!

I woke up the next morning, with a good foot of snow in my front yard! I’m not even sure if you would consider it snow, since the top layer was frozen ice. The streets and trees were covered in this ice! I couldn’t believe my eyes! And again school was out!

I remember going to bed Wednesday night, hoping and praying it would go away, and go away fast (come out suuun, where are you?). All that night, I would randomly wake up to my printer turning on and off, being super loud, and doing, who knows what. At that time (middle of the night) I didn’t pay too close attention, I just wanted to go back to bed.

But I should have known, I should have payed attention to the clues!

The power went out! Not just a hour, or two. Not even just one day, but three! Three days without power! Lisa can not survive without Internet, checking her email, or blogging! The first day without power wasn’t too bad, since Josh was over, and we were having fun. But after the first night, the house was freezing, and we basically had nothing, but my small radio!

But I stayed strong and survived!

My friends are all okay, my family is safe, and none of my neighbors are hurt! We’re all fine! But within this last week, I learned tons of lessons!! The biggest one being, is always stayed prepared for anything, have flashlights, candles, and tons of canned food ready for any possible emergencies.

Even though the power outage sucked, I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s Life with Lisa, and make sure to check out my blog post on Turning Pages, and learn different ways to prepare for power outages!

Welcome to another Life with Lisa! So everyone knows, that it’s now officially 2012, and at the beginning of every new year, people set goals for themselves! Some want to lose weight, do better with homework, or even just meet new people, make new friends and try new things!

Even though I want to do all of the above, most of my goals for this insane year, are for Turning Pages, and blogging. I’ve come up with a few different main points, that I want to discuss.

One of the most important and hardest things about having/reaching goals, is actually doing what you said you would, and keeping your eyes on the prize. A lot of people lose their way, only a few months into the new year, and just go back to whatever they were doing the year before.

Here are some of my goals:

Reviewing:

I want to write longer, more in depth, and interesting reviews. Besides that I want to write reviews more often, and have them published on a few different websites (such as Turning Pages, Burn Bright, Goodreads etc).

Youtube:

I have a YouTube channel, but barely ever find myself using it. This year I hope to use it every week for reviews and In My Mailboxes. Along with that, I want to find more different types of book related videos I can do!

Twitter:

I feel that Twitter is one of the biggest and most popular website bloggers, authors and readers use to communicate. I also have one, but barely ever find myself using it, so in 2012, I want to be able to tweet at least five tweets a day, and have a conversation with one person!

Goodreads:

This website, is a great place to repost all of my reviews, and I started doing that, but just was to lazy to keep going. Which I’ll be changing this year.

2012, is where I want to branch out, meet more people, authors and communicate with my followers. I have so many plans for this year, for both blogging and my personal life. I’m excited to get things started and kicked into gear!

Do you have any goals? If so, what are they?

Lisa! 🙂
